Ask A.L.I.C.E.! - Intro to English Paper Piecing

Friday, April 1210:00 AM—12:00 PMCraft RoomThomas Branigan Memorial Library200 E. Picacho Ave., Las Cruces, NM, 88001

Create a Patchwork fabric ball using the English Paper Piecing technique!

English Paper Piecing is a style of patchwork that uses paper templates wrapped with fabric.  The individual patches are sewn by hand, making this a great project to take along with you in the car, to the break room, or just to the couch!

Sandy will do a demonstration of basting the fabric to the cardstock, and will review of the basics of hand stitching, needle selection, stitch choice, and knotting techniques.  Students will need to spend additional time outside class to complete their balls.

Materials will be provided, but if students have fabric they especially want to use, they are welcome to bring it to class.  Quilt weight cotton fabric is ideal for this project.

While this class assumes an adult audience, youth 11 years and older may participate with their guardian.

Sandy, an instructor at Cruces Creatives, has decades of textile experience.
