The Banned Book Club meets the last Thursday of the month at 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Join the discussion in person in the Staff Meeting room or via Zoom link. The discussion centers around a specific banned book each month. 

The May Banned Book Club Selection is Bless Me, Ultima. It is a coming-of-age novel by Rudolfo Anaya centering on Antonio Márez y Luna and his mentorship under his curandera and protector, Ultima. It has become the most widely read and critically acclaimed novel in the New Mexican literature canon since its first publication in 1972. It is one of the American Library Association’s Top Ten Most Frequently Challenged Books" in the years 2013 and 2008.

Physical copies can be checked out on a first come first served basis at the reference desk. You can access e-reader and audiobook copies through the libraries Libby and Hoopla apps. Call the reference desk for assistance 575-528-4005.
