The Banned Book Club meets the last Thursday of the month at 12:30.

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month the Banned Books Club will be reading, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.  Fourteen-year-old Arnold Spirit Jr. is a budding cartoonist lives on the Spokane Indian Reservation. He leaves the rez to attend an all-white high school. Alexie drew from his own experiences for the novel, which addresses themes of racial identity, coming of age, bullying, violence, poverty, and more with Alexie’s characteristic humor. The book is often challenged or banned in schools due to its depictions of violence, profanity, alcoholism, and sexuality
