Banned Books Club - The Handmaid's Tale

The Banned Books Club meets the last Thursday of the month from 12:30 to 1:30. The discussion centers around a specific banned book each month.  

The Handmaid's Tale is a futuristic dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood published in 1985. It is set in a near-future New England in a patriarchal, totalitarian state. The novel explores themes of loss of female agency and suppression of women's reproductive rights, The American Library Association lists The Handmaid's Tale on the list of the "100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–2000".

Physical copies can be checked out on a first come first served basis at the reference desk and will be available March 1st. You can access e-reader and audiobook copies through the libraries Libby and Hoopla apps. Call the reference desk for assistance 575-528-4005.
