Studies show English as Second Language students showed a 17% improvement in comprehension through the use of subtitles (Birulés-Muntané, S. Soto-Faraco, 2016). To aid our ESL community, we will be hosting ESL Film Club to view Latine-X films in the English language, with Spanish subtitles. To aid in pronunciation, the film will periodically be paused to read as a group, a scene that was on screen. Let's celebrate Latinidad while practicing language acquisition together!

Bennie's daughter is on her way home for the holidays. However she surprises him by arriving with her brand new boyfriend - an uninvited GRINGO. Bennie is a traditional Mexican who is taken aback by his daughter's choice of partner and is having a hard time accepting him. This Christmas, he must learn to grow or risk losing the trust of his family.
