Social Justice Book Group will discuss books related to a topic of local, national or international importance. A librarian will introduce a featured book on the subject and group members are invited to introduce a book for discussion that they have read. A recommended reading list for each month's topic can be found HERE

The social justice topic for the month of April is Anti-Poverty Justice Movements.

Homelessness, stratification and lesser quality of life are impacting us all, as costs of living increase. A Social Justice Reading Group will center the discussion around Poverty, by America (2023) by Pulitzer Prize winning sociologist Matthew Desmond. The book is summarized as the factors that push people down to the lowest rungs of the economic ladder in the richest country on earth.
